Sand, soda ash and lime are heated up to very high temperatures in a furnace to become a great syrupy mass. When allowed to cool it becomes glass, which retains many of the properties of a liquid.

The formula, although improved upon, has remained relativley unchanged for centuries.

Glass Etching

Front doors, pantry doors, room dividers, signs, kitchen cabinets are all common applications we etch. Etching is the process of removing the top surface of a substrate by digging out or inscripting into it. The method we use to etch our glass is sandblasting.
We accomplish this by preparing our glass with resistant patterns that we apply to the glass. We then sandblast the glass. The areas that do not have a resist, will get sandblasted and have a frosted appeareance, While the covered areas remain clear. The final result can range from simple privacy glass to stunning artwork that will become a focal point in your home or office.

There are three different sandblasting techniniques we will utilize as well:

is simply 1 full pass with the sandblasting across the surface of the glass.

refers to multiple passes, sometimes decreasing the pressure at which we sandblast.
This creates different levels of contrast to the etching

is when we have many slower passes across the same surface to gain depth into the glass.
